MANEKI NEKO Or “Fortune Cat,” has its roots in Japan, but the iconic beckoning cat has become a staple of restaurants and businesses throughout China over the last century. Often placed at a business’ entrance, this friendly cat’s purpose is to both bring good fortune and entice passing customers to come inside. When Fortune House—a family-owned Chinese spot in the sleepy Dallas suburb of Irving—came to us seeking to celebrate their second restaurant opening in the vibrant and bustling neighborhood of Lower Greenville with a facelift fit for the location, I set to work crafting a brand inspired by Shanghai street kitchens (and cute cats). RECOGNITION Featured in the 54th Dallas Society of Visual Communications Show.
